The Knights of Columbus Council #6862 of Ballston Lake, NY has earned the distinction of a Double Star Council for the 2006-2007 fraternal year.  The organization’s headquarters, located in New Haven, Connecticut, made the announcement. The award recognizes overall excellence in the areas of membership recruitment (reaching 200% of quota, thereby making it a “double star”) and retention, promotion of the fraternal insurance program, and sponsorship of service-oriented activities. The award was presented to the membership by State District Deputy Dennis Taylor at a special ceremony held on November 6, 2007 at Our Lady of Grace Parish.

The Double Star award was graciously received by Past Grand Knight (PGK), Steve C. Troiano on behalf of the entire council. PGK Troiano was grateful for the recognition the council received and thanks council members for all their efforts to make this possible. The council also received similar recognition from New York State Council with the State Star Council Award for 2006-2007. St. Nicholas Pancake Breakfast - December 11, 2010
We invited St. Nicholas to come to Our Lady of Grace Church on December 11th and share with the children of the parish his true story.  The great bishop even had gifts for the children and all were treated with a delicious breakfast. The Knights of Columbus served pancakes, eggs and sausages for the event. Special thanks to Boy Scout troop 54, the Woman's Guild and donations provided by IHOP, Stewarts and OLG Parishioners and Staff.

Council Donates Freezer to OLG

The Knights of Our Lady of Grace donated a much needed new freezer to the parish in October 2009. The new freezer is a 18 cubit ft Frigidaire that is located in the stock room right behind the kitchen. The freezer replaces two much older freezers and should provide significant savings on the church utility bills. A plaque was place on the freezer by Dominic Arbitrio at the February council meeting to commemorate the gift. The gift represents a substantial portion of our small council's budget. Special thanks to Jim Larkin for finding the best deal available and making the purchase happen.

Council joins in Knights Campaign to
Keep Christ in Christmas

Council 6862 members from Our Lady of Grace Church have launched a Keep Christ in Christmas Campaign.  The above sign is posted in front of our Church in Ballston Lake, NY. This is part of an effort to counter a cultural trend where references to Christ and the true meaning of Christmas are minimized.  Increasingly, people are bashful about wishing folks a "Merry Christmas" in favor of "Happy Holiday."

You may be invited to a Holiday Party where there is a Holiday Tree and you give each other Holiday presents.  Do us a favor and wish those folks a Merry Christmas and invite them to Church this Advent season.

Council Member Donates Mixer to OLG

The Our Lady of Grace parish has a new, professional series, Kitchen Aid mixer courtesy of Robert Gering - from our council. Robert is an active member of the council and always looking for ways to help out the church and others in need.

Robert - thanks for the example you set for your brothers in the council.

Scout Recognition

Did you ever noticed the help we receive when we run our pancake breakfasts? You can be sure and find Boy Scout Troop 54 serving food and cleaning tables. On June 8th during the troop court of honor ceremony - our Grand Knight presented Troop Leader Bob Sammons with a certificate and a gift from the Council. Pictured below is Bob, GK Symes and Eagle scout Samuel Zadrozny.
